BiosystemsHub is a community-driven platform dedicated to advancing the understanding of biological systems — from molecular networks to planetary ecosystems. We believe that open, accessible science accelerates discovery.

Our Mission

Biological systems science sits at the intersection of biology, mathematics, computer science, and physics. Despite its importance, high-quality educational resources remain scattered and often locked behind paywalls. BiosystemsHub was created to change that.

We curate, publish, and promote free educational content — written articles, video lectures, and annotated resources — that help researchers, students, and the curious public engage with the science of living systems at every scale.

What We Publish

Articles submitted to BiosystemsHub fall into three categories:

  • Research Articles — Original research contributions covering experimental or computational work in biosystems science.
  • Reviews & Perspectives — Surveys of a subfield, methodological overviews, or opinion pieces from working scientists.
  • Tutorials & Explainers — Accessible introductions to key concepts, tools, and techniques aimed at students and newcomers.

Editorial Standards

All submissions are reviewed for scientific accuracy, clarity, and relevance. We prioritise rigour without sacrificing accessibility. Authors are encouraged to use plain language alongside technical terminology, provide code or data where possible, and link to primary literature.

Content published on BiosystemsHub is licensed under CC BY 4.0, meaning it can be freely shared and adapted with attribution.

Topics We Cover

BiosystemsHub publishes content across — but not limited to — the following areas:

  • Systems Biology
  • Ecology & Ecosystems
  • Genetics & Genomics
  • Computational Biology
  • Neuroscience
  • Biochemistry
  • Bioengineering
  • Mathematical Biology
  • Evolutionary Biology
